The happy and inspiring encounter of Iakovos Kambanelis, mainly with our three great composers, Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarchakos, Manos Hadjidakis, came during difficult but intense times, which favored the flourishing of art. It was a highly creative and unique generation, which drew inspiration and created masterpieces, as a reaction and resistance to the adverse conditions in which they lived.
Η Maria Farantouri interprets works by Iakovos Kambanellis that have been set to music by great composers. Among them are the emblematic work Mauthausen, songs from “Our Great Circus”, “Fairy Tale Without a Name” and “Enemy People”, as well as well-known songs such as “Margarita Magiopoula” and “Doxa to Theo” by Mikis Theodorakis. With her is the excellent performer Vasilis Gisdakis. Accompanied by a six-member musical group: George Anastasopoulos - piano, Costas Zaridakis - bouzouki/electric guitar, Yannis Tolios - mandolin, Areti Kokkinou - guitar, Teo Lazarou - bass, George Katsikas - percussion.
