Future Cargo

Co-production of the Greek National Opera and THE PLACE (London).

The Greek National Opera Ballet, in co-production with the renowned The Place in London, presents Future Cargo, a science fiction dance performance, taking place in a fifteen-meter-long truck, directed and choreographed by Frauke Rickwart & David Rosenberg.

A truck arrives from an unknown place, carrying a mysterious cargo. The shutters are raised, a strange and irresistible process is set in motion. Silver creatures emerge from the interior, revealing an entire world. Each viewer receives a set of headphones, which allows them to hear what is happening inside the container, immersing them in the visually impressive large-scale setting.

Frauke Rickwart & David Rosenberg's performances offer a carefully crafted and deeply personal experience of a large-scale dance spectacle that captivates the contemporary dance enthusiast. As they themselves characteristically state: "We envision the creation of an incredible interior space that defies the audience's preconceived notions. We want to invite the audience into a world they never thought possible."

The co-production with The Place and the tour are being realized with the support of a donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) [www.SNF.org] to strengthen the artistic extroversion of the Greek National Opera.
