The band VOLOSI began in 2010 when contemporary violinist Krzysztof Lasoń and cellist Stanisław Lasoń met exceptionally talented traditional musicians deep in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. The quintet's great strength lies in its improvisation, in its way of combining joyful and dynamic genres of music that would have seemed too separate to coexist before the band attempted it. In their interpretation, the music of Central-Eastern Europe and the Balkans becomes contemporary and full of vitality, without losing touch with tradition and emotion. The musicians are: Jan Kaczmarzyk viola, Krzysztof Lasoń violin, Robert Waszut bass, Stanisław Lasoń cello, Zbigniew Michałek violin.
The band includes Naxos in its international tour, following an invitation from the Naxos Festival.
